Job Description
Are you a responsible 14-year-old with a big heart for dogs? Huntsville Paws & Play Pet Sitting is looking for enthusiastic and caring teens to join our team as Local Dog Sitters! No prior professional experience is needed – just a genuine love for dogs, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to providing excellent care. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain your first work experience, earn some extra money, and spend time with adorable pets in your local neighborhood. We’re looking for individuals who are reliable, punctual, and eager to make a difference in the lives of our furry clients. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the safety, comfort, and happiness of dogs under your care during scheduled visits.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide supervision and companionship to dogs in their owners' homes.
- Engage dogs in play activities appropriate for their breed and energy level.
- Ensure dogs have access to fresh water and are fed according to owner instructions.
- Take dogs for walks, ensuring their safety and adherence to leash laws.
- Clean up after dogs during walks and at the client's home.
- Administer basic medication if required and instructed by the owner (under supervision).
- Communicate any concerns or observations about the dog's well-being to management.
- Maintain a clean and tidy pet-sitting environment.
- Follow all client instructions and company protocols meticulously.
Required Skills
- Must be 14 years old or older.
- A genuine love and comfort around dogs of all sizes and breeds.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to follow instructions carefully.
- Excellent communication skills with both pets and people.
- A responsible and mature attitude.
- Ability to handle light physical activity, such as walking dogs.
- Must reside in the Huntsville local area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience caring for your own family pets or pets of friends/neighbors.
- Basic understanding of dog behavior and needs.
- Enrollment in a local high school or homeschool program.
