Job Description

Hootsuite is seeking a dedicated Digital Community Moderator to join our team and ensure our online communities remain vibrant, safe, and engaging for users around the world. As a Digital Community Moderator, you will be the frontline representative of our brand, interacting with users, responding to inquiries, and upholding community guidelines across various platforms. Your work will be crucial in building strong relationships with our community members and maintaining the integrity of our online spaces. This is a 100% remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to make a significant impact from anywhere.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and moderate user-generated content across all designated social media platforms and forums on a 24/7 schedule.
  • Respond to comments, questions, and private messages in a timely and professional manner, reflecting the brand's voice and tone.
  • Enforce community guidelines and policies consistently, addressing violations with diplomacy and firmness.
  • Identify and escalate complex issues, potential crises, or user complaints to appropriate internal teams.
  • Engage proactively with community members to foster positive discussions and build strong relationships.
  • Provide insights and feedback on community sentiment, trends, and common issues to improve user experience and product development.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of moderation policies and best practices.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions to stay updated on product changes and community strategies.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in online community moderation, customer service, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with impeccable grammar and spelling.
  • Strong empathy, patience, and ability to de-escalate sensitive situations.
  • Proficiency with major social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok) and community management tools.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced, remote environment.
  • Comfortable working flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to ensure 24/7 global coverage.
  • Basic understanding of internet culture, trends, and online safety principles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Experience with crisis management or handling sensitive public relations issues.
  • Proficiency in additional languages relevant to our global user base.
  • Familiarity with Hootsuite's platform or other social media management dashboards.
  • Experience in a technology or SaaS environment.
