Job Description
Monument Health is seeking a highly motivated and adaptable Traveling Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic team. This unique role offers the opportunity to provide essential pharmacy support across various Monument Health facilities and affiliated locations throughout western South Dakota. You will play a critical role in ensuring efficient medication management, patient safety, and operational excellence, all while enjoying competitive compensation and a generous monthly travel stipend. Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in dispensing medications, including prescription data entry, labeling, and packaging.
- Prepare and compound sterile and non-sterile medications in accordance with established protocols and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, including ordering, receiving, and stocking pharmaceuticals and supplies.
- Conduct medication reconciliations and assist with medication therapy management services as needed.
- Perform routine checks for expired medications and ensure proper storage conditions.
- Provide exceptional customer service and support to patients and healthcare professionals at various sites.
- Adhere to all state and federal regulations, as well as Monument Health policies and procedures.
- Travel regularly to different Monument Health facilities within the region as scheduled.
Required Skills
- Active South Dakota Pharmacy Technician registration
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) through PTCB or NHA
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital or retail setting
- Proficiency in pharmacy software systems and medical terminology
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing environments
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with automated dispensing systems (e.g., Pyxis, Omnicell)
- Prior experience in a multi-site or traveling pharmacy role
- Associate's degree in a related field
- Experience with IV admixture and sterile compounding
