Job Description
We are seeking highly motivated and reliable individuals to join our Seasonal Harvest Force for emergency picking operations. This crucial role is vital for ensuring our fresh produce reaches our shelves, especially during unexpected weather events or peak demand periods. You will be instrumental in the rapid and careful harvesting of various crops, working outdoors in diverse conditions. This is a temporary position offering competitive pay for urgent, short-term assignments. If you are physically fit, eager to work, and can respond quickly to calls for support, we want you on our team!
Key Responsibilities
- Perform urgent and precise picking of various crops by hand or using basic tools.
- Sort and quality check harvested produce according to Waitrose & Partners standards.
- Pack produce carefully into crates or containers for transport.
- Work efficiently and effectively in an outdoor agricultural environment, sometimes under time pressure.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve daily harvest targets.
- Maintain a clean and tidy work area.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and stamina, with the ability to lift and carry moderate weights.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions (rain, sun, cold).
- Strong work ethic and ability to follow instructions diligently.
- Reliable and punctual, with the capacity to respond to urgent call-outs.
- Attention to detail to ensure produce quality.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in agricultural work, farming, or manual labor.
- Basic understanding of crop handling and food safety procedures.
- Full UK driving license and access to transport (beneficial for reaching various farm locations).
