Job Description
Are you a motivated and enthusiastic 14-year-old looking for a rewarding summer experience? The YMCA of the Central Bay Area is seeking dedicated Teens Camp Aides to support our vibrant summer programs in Vallejo. This is an incredible opportunity to gain valuable work experience, develop leadership skills, and make a positive impact on younger campers. As a Camp Aide, you will assist our experienced staff in facilitating daily activities, ensuring camper safety, and fostering a fun and inclusive environment. No prior experience is required; we are looking for reliable and eager individuals who are ready to learn and contribute to a memorable summer for everyone.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist camp counselors and program staff with the planning and execution of daily camp activities and games.
- Help supervise campers during various program segments, including arts & crafts, sports, swimming, and outdoor play.
- Support the setup and cleanup of activity areas, materials, and equipment.
- Act as a positive role model and mentor for younger campers, demonstrating good sportsmanship, respect, and positive behavior.
- Actively participate in all camp programs, special events, and field trips.
- Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and organized environment for all participants.
- Communicate any concerns, incidents, or observed issues to a supervising staff member promptly and appropriately.
Required Skills
- Must be 14 years old at the start of employment.
- Enthusiastic and positive attitude with a genuine interest in working with children.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and responsible.
- Ability to actively participate in physical activities, indoors and outdoors, in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a participant in summer camps or other youth programs.
- Demonstrated leadership potential in school, community activities, or sports.
- Basic knowledge of first aid or willingness to learn (training provided if needed).
- Interest in specific camp activities such as arts, sports, nature, or drama.
