Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Cardiac Cath Lab Nurse with a strong technical focus to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in assisting with complex cardiac procedures, managing patient care pre, intra, and post-procedure, and ensuring a sterile and safe environment. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional critical thinking skills, a deep understanding of cardiac physiology and interventional cardiology, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This position requires participation in an on-call rotation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist physicians during cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures, including angioplasty, stenting, and pacemaker insertions.
- Monitor patient vital signs, EKG, and hemodynamic parameters throughout procedures.
- Administer medications safely and accurately as prescribed by the physician.
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields, ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly.
- Provide comprehensive pre- and post-procedure patient education and care.
- Document all aspects of patient care accurately and thoroughly in the electronic health record.
- Respond effectively to emergencies and assist in rapid response situations.
- Participate in on-call rotation to provide emergent cardiac care.
- Maintain competence in all aspects of Cath Lab equipment and procedures.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.
Required Skills
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arkansas.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab or critical care setting (ICU/ER).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Proficiency in interpreting EKG and hemodynamic waveforms.
- Excellent technical skills and familiarity with Cath Lab equipment.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Certification in Cardiovascular Nursing (CVRN-BC) or Critical Care Nursing (CCRN).
- Experience with various interventional cardiology devices and techniques.
- Experience with Impella, IABP, and other advanced cardiac support devices.
