Job Description

The Operations Aide for Terminal Management plays a critical role in supporting the daily functions of our busy Mobile freight terminal. This position is essential for ensuring smooth administrative and operational processes, contributing directly to the efficient movement of freight and overall terminal productivity. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, organized, and detail-oriented individual eager to learn and grow within the logistics industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist terminal management with administrative tasks, including data entry, filing, and correspondence.
  • Prepare and maintain various operational reports, logs, and schedules.
  • Coordinate with drivers, dockworkers, and other personnel to ensure timely freight movement.
  • Respond to inquiries from internal departments regarding freight status and operational procedures.
  • Support safety and compliance initiatives within the terminal.
  • Process and verify shipping documents, bills of lading, and other essential paperwork.
  • Manage office supplies and equipment, ensuring the terminal operates smoothly.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Basic understanding of logistical processes or willingness to learn.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a logistics, transportation, or administrative support role.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and freight terminology.
  • Experience with transportation management systems (TMS).
  • Associate's degree or relevant certification.
