Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Think Tank Librarian with a strong focus on Information Management to join our advanced research and development team in Torrance, CA. This pivotal role involves curating, organizing, and managing vast amounts of critical information, research data, and proprietary documents essential to our think tank operations. The ideal candidate will leverage expertise in library science and information systems to ensure efficient access, retrieval, and preservation of knowledge, directly supporting strategic initiatives and groundbreaking research.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement robust information management strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Manage and maintain specialized library collections, databases, and digital repositories.
- Provide expert research support and information retrieval services to internal stakeholders, including scientists, engineers, and project managers.
- Classify, index, and catalogue research materials using established standards and innovative approaches.
- Evaluate and recommend new information technologies and systems to enhance knowledge sharing and accessibility.
- Conduct training sessions for staff on effective use of library resources and information management tools.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, security protocols, and intellectual property regulations.
Required Skills
- Master's degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a specialized library, research, or information management role, preferably within a corporate or think tank environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in metadata standards, cataloging, and classification systems (e.g., MARC21, Dublin Core).
- Proficiency with library management systems (LMS) and enterprise content management (ECM) platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation abilities.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with data visualization tools and techniques.
- Knowledge of emerging trends in digital humanities, data curation, and scholarly communication.
- Familiarity with aerospace, defense, or scientific research terminology and topics.
- Project management experience in information system implementations.
