Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic team in Costa Mesa, CA. This is an immediate start, full-time position offering a desirable 4-day work week, allowing for an excellent work-life balance. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive primary and urgent care services to patients of all ages, managing a diverse range of acute and chronic conditions. You will work autonomously while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest quality of patient care. This role requires excellent clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and a passion for community health.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive health assessments, including physical examinations and medical history reviews.
- Diagnose and treat acute illnesses, injuries, and chronic conditions within the scope of urgent care.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests (e.g., X-rays, lab results).
- Develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Prescribe medications and other treatments in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Provide patient education on health maintenance, disease prevention, and treatment plans.
- Refer patients to specialists as needed and coordinate follow-up care.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education.
Required Skills
- Current and unrestricted California Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Current and unrestricted California Nurse Practitioner (NP) license
- Board Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP)
- Current DEA registration
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner, preferably in an urgent care, emergency medicine, or primary care setting
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Excellent clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with minor procedures such as suturing, splinting, and I&D
- PALS certification
- Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish)
- Master's or Doctor of Nursing Practice (MSN/DNP) degree
