Job Description
Are you passionate about technology and eager to kick-start a career in the rapidly growing smart home automation industry? British Gas is looking for enthusiastic and tech-savvy individuals to join our team as Smart Home Automation Installer Trainees in Newcastle upon Tyne. No prior experience is required; we provide all the necessary tools and a comprehensive training program to equip you with the skills needed to become a certified installer. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn on the job, work with cutting-edge technology, and contribute to making homes smarter and more efficient.
Key Responsibilities
- Undergo a structured training program covering smart home devices, installation techniques, and customer service.
- Assist experienced installers with the installation, configuration, and testing of various smart home systems (e.g., thermostats, lighting, security cameras, doorbells).
- Learn to troubleshoot basic technical issues and provide initial support to customers.
- Ensure all installations are completed to the highest standards of safety and quality.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment, managing tools and equipment effectively.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including health and safety guidelines.
- Develop a strong understanding of product functionalities and explain them clearly to customers.
- Cultivate excellent customer service skills, ensuring customer satisfaction during and after installation.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong interest in technology, particularly smart home devices and automation.
- Eagerness to learn and develop new technical skills.
- Manual dexterity and comfort using basic hand and power tools (training provided).
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel within the service area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic understanding of electrical systems or home networking.
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
- Experience with DIY projects or hobbies involving electronics.
