Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Operating Room (OR) Nurse with a strong focus on surgical suite operations to join our dynamic team. This critical role involves providing expert nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures within a fast-paced and challenging environment. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional clinical judgment, a commitment to patient safety, and the ability to collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals. Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in the perioperative setting.
- Prepare the operating room with all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies.
- Assist surgeons during procedures, ensuring a sterile field and patient safety.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition throughout surgery.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician.
- Document all aspects of patient care accurately and thoroughly.
- Provide pre- and post-operative education and support to patients and their families.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to optimize patient outcomes.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives within the surgical department.
Required Skills
- Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Minimum of 3 years of recent experience as an OR Nurse.
- Proficiency in various surgical specialties (e.g., general, orthopedic, cardiovascular).
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform effectively in high-stress situations.
- Knowledge of aseptic technique and surgical instrumentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) certification.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, particularly Epic.
- Previous experience in a Level II Trauma Center or similar high-acuity setting.
