Job Description

As a Compliance Specialist focusing on regulatory matters for EA Games, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our cutting-edge games and services meet global legal and ethical standards. You will monitor, research, and interpret a wide range of regulations impacting the interactive entertainment industry, including data privacy, consumer protection, intellectual property, and content guidelines. This role involves collaborating closely with legal, development, product, and marketing teams to implement compliance frameworks and advise on best practices throughout the game development lifecycle and live service operations. Your expertise will safeguard EA’s reputation and enable us to continue delivering immersive and compliant experiences to millions of players worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor, research, and analyze new and existing regulatory requirements relevant to the global video game industry, including data privacy (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), consumer protection, advertising standards, and content ratings.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Product, Engineering, Marketing, and other cross-functional teams to integrate compliance requirements into game development, publishing, and live service operations.
  • Conduct internal compliance reviews and risk assessments for upcoming games, features, and marketing campaigns to identify potential regulatory gaps.
  • Develop and implement internal policies, procedures, and training materials to promote a culture of compliance across the organization.
  • Assist in responding to regulatory inquiries, audits, and investigations, gathering necessary information and coordinating with relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide clear, actionable guidance to business units on complex regulatory issues, translating legal jargon into practical operational advice.
  • Maintain accurate records of compliance activities, documentation, and communications.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging compliance trends in interactive entertainment.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (3+ years) in regulatory compliance, legal research, or risk management within a dynamic industry.
  • Strong understanding of global data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and consumer protection laws.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex legal and regulatory documents.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex topics clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with standard office software and compliance management tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, Public Policy, or a related field.
  • Experience specifically in the interactive entertainment, tech, or digital media industry.
  • Certification in compliance (e.g., CIPP, CCEP) or risk management.
  • Experience with international regulatory bodies and compliance frameworks.
  • Familiarity with intellectual property rights and content moderation principles relevant to user-generated content in games.
