Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Automated Dispensing Machine Tech to join our hospital systems team in Fargo, ND. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of our automated medication dispensing systems, primarily focusing on hospital-specific technologies. Your expertise will ensure the smooth and efficient operation of these vital machines, directly contributing to patient safety and operational efficiency within our healthcare facilities. This is an on-site position requiring a strong understanding of both technical systems and the unique demands of a hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and cleaning of automated medication dispensing machines (e.g., Pyxis, Omnicell).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to hardware, software, and networking of dispensing systems.
  • Respond to and resolve service requests from nursing and pharmacy staff in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and par levels within dispensing machines, working closely with pharmacy staff.
  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and decommissioning of new or updated dispensing units.
  • Provide training and support to end-users on the proper operation and basic troubleshooting of ADM systems.
  • Document all maintenance, repairs, and service activities thoroughly.
  • Collaborate with IT, Pharmacy, and Nursing departments to optimize system performance and address user needs.
  • Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, safety regulations, and regulatory standards (e.g., TJC, DEA).
  • Participate in on-call rotation as required to provide 24/7 support.

Required Skills

  • Associate's degree in Biomedical Technology, IT, Electronics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1+ years of experience working with automated dispensing machines (Pyxis, Omnicell preferred) in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills for hardware and software systems.
  • Basic understanding of networking principles and connectivity for medical devices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced hospital environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field.
  • Experience with other hospital IT systems or medical device integration.
  • Certifications in relevant IT or biomedical technologies.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy operations and medication management workflows.
  • Prior experience in a customer service or support role.
