Job Description
Hub Group is seeking motivated and experienced Independent Drayage Drivers to partner with us for port and rail logistics operations in the Kansas City metropolitan area, based out of Olathe, Kansas. This is an exceptional opportunity for owner-operators to leverage their equipment and expertise, ensuring efficient and timely movement of freight containers to and from major rail ramps. You will be instrumental in supporting our extensive intermodal network, providing critical last-mile and first-mile solutions for our diverse client base. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport intermodal containers to and from designated rail yards, customer facilities, and distribution centers.
- Adhere strictly to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, company policies, and customer requirements.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate electronic logs (ELD) and all required documentation, including bills of lading and delivery receipts.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members regarding load status, delays, and any issues encountered.
- Manage time effectively to meet scheduled pick-up and delivery appointments.
- Represent Hub Group professionally while interacting with customers and the public.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A)
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable Class A driving experience
- Minimum 1 year of drayage/intermodal experience
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and PSP report
- Current DOT medical card
- Proof of tractor ownership and valid registration
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and ELD compliance
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with various chassis types and container handling procedures
- TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) or willingness to obtain one
- Familiarity with the Kansas City metropolitan area and major rail facilities
