Job Description
Join Urban Plates as a Part-time Front of House Host, primarily for weekend shifts, and be the first point of contact for our valued guests. In this essential role, you will play a crucial part in creating an exceptional dining experience from the moment guests arrive. We’re looking for an enthusiastic, friendly, and organized individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys being part of a team. This position offers a competitive hourly wage plus the opportunity to earn tips.
Key Responsibilities
- Warmly greet all guests upon arrival and thank them upon departure, making them feel welcome and valued.
- Efficiently manage the waitlist and seating chart, optimizing table turns and guest flow.
- Escort guests to their tables, present menus, and inform them of daily specials.
- Handle incoming phone calls, take reservations accurately, and answer guest inquiries.
- Maintain a clean and organized host stand and entrance area.
- Assist the serving staff with minor tasks such as refilling water glasses or clearing plates when necessary.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and servers to ensure smooth service.
- Address guest concerns or direct them to appropriate management.
Required Skills

- Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a host or customer service role in a restaurant setting.
- Familiarity with reservation systems (e.g., OpenTable) or POS systems.
- Open availability on weekends (Friday evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays).
