Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Public Health Nurse to join our vibrant team in Timaru, Canterbury. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct community health assessments and develop tailored health promotion programmes.
- Provide immunisation services and health screenings for various age groups.
- Deliver well-child and school health services, including health education and support.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, community organisations, and government agencies.
- Identify and address health inequities, focusing on vulnerable populations.
- Provide guidance and support to individuals and families on health-related matters.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with professional standards.
- Participate in emergency preparedness and response activities as required.
- Advocate for public health policies and initiatives that benefit the community.
Required Skills
- Registered Nurse with a current practicing certificate in your home country (or eligible for registration in New Zealand).
- Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-registration nursing experience, preferably in public health, community health, or primary care.
- Demonstrated understanding of public health principles and practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and cultural competency skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the region.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate qualification in Public Health, Community Health, or a related field.
- Experience working with diverse cultural groups, particularly Māori and Pasifika communities.
- Familiarity with the New Zealand health system and cultural safety practices.
- Previous experience with immunisation programmes and well-child health.
