Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and meticulous Claims Processor to join our Insurance & Shipping Admin team in Layton, UT. In this vital role, you will be responsible for processing and managing insurance claims related to shipping incidents, damages, and losses. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to accuracy. You will work closely with customers, internal departments, and third-party insurers to investigate claims, gather documentation, and facilitate resolutions in a timely and fair manner, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, review, and process shipping claims from customers and internal teams.
  • Investigate claims by gathering necessary documentation, including shipping records, proof of value, photos, and customer statements.
  • Communicate effectively with claimants, internal departments, and insurance providers to obtain information and provide updates.
  • Determine claim validity and appropriate compensation based on policy terms, shipping conditions, and evidence.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of all claim activities, communications, and resolutions in the claims management system.
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports on claim trends, resolutions, and potential areas for service improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant company policies, local regulations, and insurance guidelines.
  • Assist in identifying root causes of claims and contribute to the development of preventative measures.
  • Provide exceptional customer service throughout the claims process, addressing inquiries and concerns professionally.
  • Collaborate with legal and risk management teams on complex or escalated claims.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in claims processing, insurance administration, or a related administrative role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Experience with claims management software or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Knowledge of shipping regulations and logistics processes.
  • Familiarity with insurance terminology and claim adjudication principles.
