Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Localization Tester with exceptional bilingual skills in Spanish, Japanese, and/or French to join our quality assurance team in Sioux Falls, SD. As a Localization Tester, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the linguistic and cultural accuracy of our cutting-edge video games and interactive content. You will identify and report linguistic bugs, cultural discrepancies, and functionality issues in translated text, audio, and visual elements, contributing directly to a seamless and immersive experience for our global audience. This position requires a keen eye for detail, a passion for gaming, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute test cases and test plans to verify the linguistic and cultural accuracy of game content across various platforms and localizations.
- Identify, reproduce, and accurately report linguistic bugs, translation errors, cultural insensitivities, and grammatical mistakes in Spanish, Japanese, and/or French.
- Verify the correct implementation of localized text, audio, and UI elements within the game.
- Collaborate closely with development, localization, and QA teams to ensure all issues are clearly understood and addressed.
- Provide constructive feedback and suggestions for improving the localization quality and player experience.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of localization best practices and industry standards.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of localization glossaries and style guides.
Required Skills
- Native or near-native fluency in English and at least one of the following languages: Spanish (LATAM/EU), Japanese, or French (EU/CAN).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in all proficient languages.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify subtle linguistic and cultural nuances.
- Familiarity with gaming platforms (PC, console, mobile) and a passion for video games.
- Basic understanding of QA methodologies and bug reporting processes.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency with bug tracking software (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla).
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluency in more than one of the bonus languages (Spanish, Japanese, French).
- Previous experience in localization testing, translation, or quality assurance within the gaming or software industry.
- Knowledge of CAT tools (Computer-Assisted Translation) such as Trados or MemoQ.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Translation, Computer Science, or a related field.
