Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Industrial Chemist to join our manufacturing support team in Tempe, AZ. This role is crucial for ensuring the quality, efficiency, and safety of our chemical manufacturing processes. You will work within a dynamic environment, providing vital analytical and technical support to production operations on a unique 4-day work week schedule. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced analytical support and troubleshooting for chemical manufacturing processes.
  • Develop, validate, and implement new analytical methods for raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
  • Perform routine and non-routine chemical analysis using a variety of instrumentation (e.g., GC, HPLC, FTIR, UV-Vis, titration).
  • Interpret complex analytical data, identify trends, and provide recommendations for process improvement and quality control.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality assurance teams to resolve process deviations and material non-conformances.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results.
  • Write detailed technical reports, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and participate in root cause analysis investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing facility.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
  • 3+ years of experience in an industrial chemistry or manufacturing support role.
  • Proficiency with various analytical techniques and instrumentation (GC, HPLC, FTIR, UV-Vis).
  • Strong understanding of chemical manufacturing processes and quality control principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
  • Experience in a highly regulated manufacturing environment (e.g., aerospace, pharmaceuticals).
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience with process analytical technology (PAT) and automation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead small projects or improvement initiatives.
