Job Description

We are seeking a highly responsible and observant individual for a critical role as an Alcohol & Tobacco Compliance Checker, specifically focusing on ‘Under 21/Teens’ compliance. This vital position involves conducting anonymous, undercover checks at various King Soopers retail locations within Aurora, Colorado, to ensure strict adherence to state and federal laws regarding the sale of alcohol and tobacco products to minors. The successful candidate will be instrumental in preventing underage sales, protecting our communities, and maintaining our company’s commitment to legal compliance and social responsibility. This role is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, possess strong integrity, and are keen to contribute to public safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct discreet and unannounced compliance checks at designated King Soopers stores within the Aurora area.
  • Attempt to purchase age-restricted products (alcohol and tobacco) while accurately representing age and adhering to specific testing protocols.
  • Observe and document store employee interactions, including requests for identification and refusal of sales to underage individuals.
  • Accurately complete detailed reports for each visit, noting compliance or non-compliance, date, time, location, and specific observations.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all aspects of the compliance checking process and findings.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with program coordinators regarding scheduling and reporting.
  • Adhere to all legal guidelines and company policies throughout the compliance checking process.

Required Skills

  • Must be between 18 and 20 years of age to fulfill the 'Under 21/Teens' focus of the role.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong observation skills.
  • High level of integrity, honesty, and ethical conduct.
  • Ability to follow precise instructions and protocols consistently.
  • Excellent written communication skills for accurate report generation.
  • Reliable personal transportation and willingness to travel to various store locations within Aurora, Colorado.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain discretion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
