Job Description

Are you passionate about fresh produce and ensuring customers get the best quality? We’re looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Entry-Level Produce Quality Checker. In this vital role, you’ll be the eyes and ears on our shop floor, ensuring that all fruit, vegetables, and other fresh produce meet Tesco’s high standards for freshness, appearance, and quality. You’ll play a direct part in making sure our shelves are appealing and our customers leave happy with their purchases. No prior experience is required; we provide comprehensive training to help you succeed!

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming produce for freshness, quality, and damage.
  • Monitor produce displays on the shop floor, removing any items that do not meet quality standards.
  • Ensure proper rotation of stock to minimize waste and maximize freshness.
  • Report any quality issues, spoilage, or discrepancies to the Produce Team Leader.
  • Maintain clean and organised produce display areas.
  • Assist with merchandising and presentation of fresh produce to attract customers.
  • Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina for standing, lifting, and moving produce.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a retail or customer service environment (not essential, but a bonus).

  • Knowledge of food safety principles.
