Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Automated Dispensing Machine (ADM) Technician to join our hospital systems team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and daily operational support of all automated medication dispensing systems across our facilities. You will ensure the proper functioning of ADMs, optimize medication inventory within these systems, and provide essential support to nursing and pharmacy staff. This position requires a strong technical aptitude, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to medication safety and compliance within a fast-paced hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance, calibration, and cleaning of all automated dispensing machines (e.g., Pyxis, Omnicell).
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to ADM hardware, software, and connectivity promptly.
- Maintain accurate medication inventory levels within ADMs, coordinating with pharmacy staff for replenishment and waste management.
- Provide initial training and ongoing support to nursing and pharmacy personnel on the proper use and functionality of ADMs.
- Document all maintenance activities, service calls, and inventory adjustments accurately in designated systems.
- Collaborate with IT, Pharmacy, and Nursing departments to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of ADM systems.
- Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, state and federal regulations, and accreditation standards related to medication management and ADM operations.
- Participate in system upgrades, new installations, and testing as required.
Required Skills
- Technical aptitude and ability to understand complex automated systems.
- Basic computer proficiency and experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.

- Understanding of medication safety principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in a technical field, healthcare, or related discipline.
- Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) or equivalent.
- Previous experience working with automated dispensing systems (e.g., Pyxis, Omnicell) in a hospital or healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations and workflow.
