Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and Certified Legal Transcriber to join our dynamic team in Mesa, Arizona. Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe audio recordings of legal proceedings, depositions, hearings, and other legal discussions with high accuracy and speed.
- Review and proofread transcribed documents to ensure grammatical correctness, punctuation, and adherence to specific legal formatting guidelines.
- Identify and clarify indistinct or complex audio segments, consulting with legal teams or using advanced audio enhancement techniques when necessary.
- Manage multiple transcription projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to ensure all deadlines are met without compromising quality.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all sensitive legal information and uphold ethical standards.
- Utilize specialized transcription software and tools effectively, continuously learning new features and updates.
- Adhere to all legal and ethical standards for transcription services, including adherence to court rules and professional codes of conduct.
Required Skills
- Certified Legal Transcriber (CLT) or equivalent certification.
- Minimum typing speed of 80 WPM with high accuracy.
- Proficiency in legal terminology, legal procedures, and court systems.
- Expertise in transcription software (e.g., Express Scribe, FTR Gold, CaseView, CATalyst).
- Exceptional listening and comprehension skills, with the ability to discern multiple speakers and complex dialogue.
- Impeccable attention to detail and superior proofreading abilities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, capable of handling high-volume workloads.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, English, or a related field.
- Experience with various legal document types, including depositions, trial transcripts, arbitrations, and administrative hearings.
- Familiarity with digital audio recording systems and file management.
- Notary Public commission (or willingness to obtain one).
- Prior experience working within a law firm, court, or legal support services environment.
