Job Description

Join METRO as a City Transit Bus Driver and become an essential part of our mission to provide safe, reliable, and efficient public transportation to the residents of The Woodlands and surrounding communities. As a Bus Driver, you will be responsible for operating transit buses on designated routes, adhering to schedules, ensuring passenger safety, and providing excellent customer service. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, adherence to traffic laws, and the ability to maintain a professional demeanor in all circumstances. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate transit buses safely and efficiently on assigned routes and schedules.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Ensure the safety of all passengers, including assisting those with special needs or disabilities.
  • Collect fares, issue transfers, and provide accurate information to passengers.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus and report any mechanical issues.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly bus interior.
  • Handle emergency situations calmly and effectively, following established procedures.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, answering questions and addressing concerns respectfully.
  • Complete daily logs and reports accurately.

Required Skills

  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B with Passenger (P) endorsement and Air Brake restriction removed.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety and customer service.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Familiarity with The Woodlands and surrounding areas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience as a bus driver or commercial vehicle operator.
  • Experience in a customer service role.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
