Job Description
Join XPO Logistics as a Class A Day Cab Driver based out of Long Beach, CA. This position focuses on local routes, ensuring you’re home every night. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of freight, primarily operating day cab tractors and various trailer types within a dedicated local service area. We are looking for professional drivers who prioritize safety, customer service, and timely deliveries. This is a full-time opportunity with consistent work and a comprehensive benefits package.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate Class A commercial motor vehicles in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all DOT regulations and company policies.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment and accurately complete all necessary paperwork.
- Safely transport freight to and from specified destinations within the local Long Beach area and surrounding regions.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods, assisting with loading and unloading as required.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members regarding delivery status, delays, and any issues encountered.
- Maintain logs, vehicle records, and other documentation as required by company and regulatory standards.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and maintain a clean driving record.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements.
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) verifiable Class A driving experience.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and no preventable accidents in the last 3 years.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
- Proficient in operating day cab tractors and various trailer types (e.g., dry van, flatbed).
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety protocols.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds frequently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- HazMat endorsement.
- Forklift certification or experience operating other material handling equipment.
- Familiarity with the Long Beach and greater Southern California transportation network.
