Job Description
Are you a compassionate and reliable individual looking to make a meaningful impact in your community? VON Canada in Moncton is seeking dedicated Community Care Assistants to provide essential support to clients in their homes. This role offers flexible hours to fit your lifestyle and includes paid travel time, ensuring you are compensated for your commitment to our clients across Moncton and surrounding areas. As a Community Care Assistant, you will provide vital personal care, companionship, and support, enabling clients to live independently and comfortably in their own environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming) and mobility.
- Provide medication reminders and observe clients for changes in health or behavior.
- Offer companionship and engage clients in stimulating activities.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks, meal preparation, and grocery shopping as needed.
- Accompany clients to appointments and outings, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Document care provided accurately and communicate any concerns to the care team.
- Adhere to all VON policies and procedures, maintaining client confidentiality and dignity.
- Travel safely and efficiently between client homes within the Moncton area.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel between client homes.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in home care, long-term care, or a related field.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Completion of a Personal Support Worker (PSW) program or equivalent certification.
