Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Correctional Facility Pharmacy Technician to join our team in a secure setting in Philadelphia, PA. This critical role involves supporting the Pharmacist in providing comprehensive pharmaceutical services to patients within a correctional facility. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, secure environment and possess excellent organizational skills and a strong commitment to patient care and safety. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, including unit dose and multi-dose packaging.
  • Maintain accurate medication inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating supplies.
  • Perform medication reconciliations and assist with medication order entry under pharmacist supervision.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies and procedures related to pharmacy practice.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, correctional staff, and patients regarding medication-related inquiries.
  • Process prescription refills and manage patient profiles with precision.
  • Operate and maintain pharmacy equipment and technology.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and maintain a clean, organized, and secure pharmacy workspace.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Active Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) from the PTCB or NHA
  • Current state Pharmacy Technician license/registration in Pennsylvania
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferably in a hospital, long-term care, or retail setting
  • Proficiency in pharmacy software systems and basic computer applications
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication handling and record keeping
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively and calmly in a secure, correctional environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in a related field
  • Experience working in a correctional healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of controlled substance regulations and inventory management
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish)
