Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and exceptionally motivated Critical Care Transport Nurse to join our dynamic team. This is a high-intensity role requiring expert clinical judgment, advanced critical care skills, and the ability to perform under pressure in diverse and challenging environments, including ground and air transport. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for critically ill and injured patients during inter-facility transfers. This position offers a top-tier compensation package commensurate with the demanding nature of the role and the expertise required.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced critical care interventions and monitoring during transport for critically ill or injured patients.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, initiate and manage life support measures, and administer medications as per protocol.
- Operate and troubleshoot complex medical equipment, including ventilators, IV pumps, cardiac monitors, and other specialized devices.
- Collaborate effectively with referring and receiving medical teams to ensure seamless continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate and thorough medical records and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Ensure the safety and comfort of patients, families, and team members throughout the transport process.
- Participate in ongoing training, simulations, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and operational guidelines for ground and air medical transport.
- Provide clear and concise communication to all stakeholders during transport operations.
Required Skills
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa
- Minimum 3 years of recent critical care experience (ICU/ED/CCU)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) certification
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in high-stress, fast-paced environments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Physical ability to lift, push, pull, and maneuver patients and equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN) or Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) certification
- Experience in air medical transport
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Instructor certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
