Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Dietary / Meal Prep Kitchen Assistant to join our food service team in Springhill, LA. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who enjoy working in a dynamic kitchen environment and have a passion for preparing nourishing meals. Your role will be crucial in ensuring our daily meal services run smoothly, focusing on quality, hygiene, and efficiency. This position offers consistent daytime hours, providing a great work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and cooking of various food items following recipes and dietary guidelines.
- Perform general kitchen duties, including washing, peeling, chopping, and slicing ingredients.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, ensuring all work areas and equipment are sanitized.
- Receive, store, and rotate food supplies according to established procedures.
- Assist with plating and serving meals, ensuring presentation standards are met.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., mixers, slicers, ovens).
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations (HACCP).
- Support the Head Cook and Kitchen Manager with daily tasks as needed.
- Monitor food temperatures and ensure proper handling procedures.
- Dispose of waste and recycling appropriately.
Required Skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Reliable and punctual with a positive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a kitchen, food service, or dietary setting (volunteer experience welcome).
- Current Food Handler's Permit or willingness to obtain one upon hire.
