Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Dispatcher Assistant to join our night shift team in Cary, NC. This role is crucial in supporting our dispatch operations, ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of packages and freight. The Dispatcher Assistant will work closely with our dispatchers, drivers, and other operational staff to maintain schedule adherence, address issues, and facilitate timely deliveries. Key Responsibilities
- Assist dispatchers with routing, scheduling, and tracking of deliveries.
- Communicate effectively with drivers regarding routes, delays, and special instructions.
- Monitor driver progress and update dispatch systems with real-time information.
- Respond to driver inquiries and resolve minor operational issues.
- Prepare daily dispatch reports and maintain accurate logs.
- Coordinate with warehouse and loading dock personnel to ensure timely departures.
- Perform data entry tasks related to shipments and driver activities.
- Assist in emergency response situations and re-routing as necessary.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and transportation regulations.
Required Skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work the night shift, including weekends and holidays as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a logistics, transportation, or dispatching environment.
- Familiarity with dispatch software or GPS tracking systems.
- Knowledge of local geography and road networks in the Cary/Raleigh area.
- Associate's degree or relevant certification in logistics or supply chain management.
