Job Description
Swift Transportation is seeking motivated and aspiring individuals to join our team as Entry Level Truck Drivers. This is an incredible opportunity for candidates who have recently obtained their CDL-A license but lack significant professional driving experience. We provide comprehensive paid training and mentorship to ensure you gain the skills and confidence needed to succeed on the road. As an Entry Level Truck Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and timely transport of goods across designated routes, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) in accordance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Transport goods and materials over designated routes, ensuring timely and secure delivery.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and trailers, documenting any defects or issues.
- Maintain accurate electronic logs (ELDs) and other necessary paperwork.
- Adhere to company safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
- Manage cargo loading and unloading, securing freight as required.
- Represent Swift Transportation professionally to customers and the public.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A)
- Clean driving record with no major violations
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen
- Strong commitment to safety
- Ability to follow directions and work independently
- Basic understanding of truck maintenance and operation
- Good physical condition to handle the demands of the job (sitting, standing, lifting, bending)
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Familiarity with ELDs and route navigation software
- Prior experience in a physically demanding role
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
