Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented EPA Compliance Specialist with a strong background in Chemistry to join our Environmental Health & Safety team in Wesley Chapel, Florida. This role is crucial for ensuring The Mosaic Company’s adherence to all federal, state, and local environmental regulations, with a particular focus on EPA guidelines. The ideal candidate will leverage their chemical expertise to interpret complex regulations, manage environmental data, and support our commitment to operational excellence and environmental responsibility. Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and apply complex EPA regulations, including but not limited to RCRA, CAA, CWA, CERCLA, and EPCRA, to company operations.
  • Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with environmental permits and regulations.
  • Prepare and submit environmental reports, permits, and other required documentation to regulatory agencies (e.g., NPDES, air permits, waste manifests).
  • Manage environmental data, including emissions, waste generation, and water discharge, ensuring accuracy and proper record-keeping.
  • Provide technical expertise on chemical properties, hazardous waste classification, and pollution prevention strategies.
  • Develop and deliver environmental training programs for employees.
  • Collaborate with operational teams, legal counsel, and external consultants on environmental projects and issues.
  • Respond to regulatory inquiries and assist with agency inspections.
  • Support the investigation of environmental incidents and implementation of corrective actions.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
  • Proven experience (3+ years) in environmental compliance, regulatory affairs, or EHS roles within an industrial setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of EPA regulations (RCRA, CAA, CWA, EPCRA).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex scientific and regulatory data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficiency in environmental management information systems (EMIS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CHMM, CEP, P.E.).
  • Experience with Florida-specific environmental regulations (e.g., FDEP).
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 environmental management systems.
  • Experience in the chemical manufacturing, mining, or fertilizer industry.
