Job Description

Stamford Health is seeking a diligent and motivated Weekend Student Maintenance Aide to assist our Facilities Management team. This role is perfect for a student looking to gain practical experience in maintenance and facilities operations. You will be responsible for performing various light maintenance tasks, ensuring our campus remains safe, clean, and functional for patients, visitors, and staff. This is an excellent opportunity to develop handyman skills in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine light maintenance tasks, including minor repairs to fixtures, furniture, and equipment.
  • Assist with painting, patching, and general upkeep of facility aesthetics.
  • Support the setup and breakdown of events, including moving furniture and equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections of common areas, identifying and reporting maintenance needs.
  • Assist skilled tradespeople with more complex repairs and projects as needed.
  • Ensure all work areas are kept clean, organized, and safe.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and institutional guidelines.

Required Skills

  • Basic handyman skills and familiarity with common tools.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Good physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Reliability and punctuality, especially for weekend shifts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a high school or college program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a maintenance, repair, or general labor role (e.g., home repairs, volunteer work).
  • Familiarity with basic plumbing or electrical troubleshooting.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Enrollment in a trade school program related to facilities or construction.
