Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Flatbed Driver to join our team in Louisville, Kentucky. This role is crucial for delivering specialized freight that requires flatbed transportation and securement. You will be responsible for the safe and timely transport of goods, adhering to all federal and company regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a commercial motor vehicle (Class A CDL) with a flatbed trailer.
- Properly secure various types of freight using chains, binders, straps, and other equipment.
- Perform tarping of loads as required, ensuring protection from elements and secure transit.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of freight to customers.
- Adhere to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies.
- Maintain accurate logbooks and submit all required documentation.
- Provide exceptional customer service during pickups and deliveries.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding delivery schedules and any issues.
- Maneuver equipment safely in various conditions, including adverse weather and tight spaces.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL A).
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable Class A CDL driving experience.
- Proven experience with flatbed freight transportation and load securement.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including climbing, lifting, bending, and tarping loads.
- Clean driving record with no major violations.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety protocols.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with oversized or specialized freight.
- Hazmat endorsement.
- Experience operating within the FedEx Freight network.
