Job Description

FedEx is seeking a skilled and dedicated HVAC Technician to join our Corporate Building Support team in Morgantown, West Virginia. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems within our corporate facilities. Your expertise will ensure optimal climate control, air quality, and energy efficiency, contributing directly to the comfort and productivity of our staff and the operational continuity of our facilities. This is an on-site position requiring hands-on technical work and a proactive approach to facility maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on all HVAC systems, including inspecting, cleaning, and calibrating components.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex HVAC system malfunctions, utilizing specialized tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Execute repairs and replacements of defective parts, including compressors, motors, thermostats, and other control mechanisms.
  • Install new HVAC equipment, ductwork, and control systems in accordance with blueprints, specifications, and local codes.
  • Monitor and adjust building management systems (BMS) to optimize HVAC performance and energy consumption.
  • Respond promptly to emergency service calls and facility climate control issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repair, and installation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards (e.g., EPA refrigerant handling).
  • Collaborate with other facility maintenance staff and external contractors as needed.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as an HVAC Technician, preferably in a corporate or commercial setting.
  • EPA Section 608 Certification (Type I, II, or Universal).
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, components, and their functions (e.g., chillers, boilers, air handlers, variable air volume systems).
  • Proficiency in diagnosing electrical and mechanical issues using multimeters, thermometers, and pressure gauges.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) or building management systems (BMS).
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or vocational certification in HVAC technology.
  • NATE (North American Technician Excellence) certification.
  • Experience with energy management best practices and sustainability initiatives.
  • Familiarity with specific HVAC brands commonly used in commercial settings (e.g., Trane, Carrier, York).
  • OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification.
