Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and adaptable Float Pool Nurse to join our dynamic team at Medical City Frisco. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to gain diverse experience across various inpatient units, including Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, Orthopedics, and more. As a Float Pool Nurse, you will be a critical resource, providing high-quality patient care wherever it’s needed most, ensuring optimal staffing and continuity of service. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for assigned patients.
- Float to various hospital units based on staffing needs, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Monitor patient progress, documenting observations, interventions, and responses to care.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to develop and modify patient care plans.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, medications, and self-care techniques.
- Maintain accurate and complete patient health records.
- Respond to emergency situations and provide critical care interventions as necessary.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in unit meetings, committees, and continuing education programs.
Required Skills
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas or compact state license.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new environments and patient populations.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Experience floating between multiple specialties.
- Certification in a specialty area (e.g., Medical-Surgical, Telemetry).
