Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and adaptable Float Pool Nurse to join our dynamic team at Medical City Frisco. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to gain diverse experience across various inpatient units, including Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, Orthopedics, and more. As a Float Pool Nurse, you will be a critical resource, providing high-quality patient care wherever it’s needed most, ensuring optimal staffing and continuity of service. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for assigned patients.
  • Float to various hospital units based on staffing needs, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Monitor patient progress, documenting observations, interventions, and responses to care.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to develop and modify patient care plans.
  • Educate patients and their families on health conditions, medications, and self-care techniques.
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient health records.
  • Respond to emergency situations and provide critical care interventions as necessary.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in unit meetings, committees, and continuing education programs.

Required Skills

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas or compact state license.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new environments and patient populations.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Experience floating between multiple specialties.
  • Certification in a specialty area (e.g., Medical-Surgical, Telemetry).
