Job Description

Join Cardiff University’s pioneering Digital Archive Project as a Historical Document Tagger. This role is crucial in bringing our vast historical collections into the digital age, ensuring their preservation and accessibility for research and public engagement. You will be responsible for accurately tagging, categorizing, and describing a diverse range of historical documents, making them searchable and understandable within our digital repositories. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a significant cultural heritage initiative and develop expertise in digital archiving practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately tag and categorize historical documents according to established guidelines and taxonomies.
  • Perform data entry and quality control to ensure consistency and integrity of metadata.
  • Collaborate with archivists, librarians, and project managers to resolve discrepancies and improve tagging protocols.
  • Adhere to project timelines and productivity targets.
  • Assist in the identification and preparation of documents for digitization.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive historical information.
  • Provide regular updates on progress and flag any potential issues or challenges.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
