Job Description

Join Brookdale Senior Living as an Entry Level Activities Coordinator in our Palm Bay care home! As an Activities Coordinator, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by planning, organizing, and leading engaging recreational activities. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and lead a diverse range of daily activities and events for residents, including arts and crafts, games, exercise, social gatherings, and cultural programs.
  • Engage residents in activities tailored to their individual interests, abilities, and preferences, ensuring maximum participation and enjoyment.
  • Assist in the development and publication of monthly activity calendars.
  • Set up and clean up activity areas, ensuring a safe and inviting environment.
  • Encourage resident participation and foster a welcoming atmosphere for all.
  • Observe and document residents' responses to activities and report any significant changes to the care team.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure a holistic approach to resident care and engagement.
  • Maintain activity supplies and equipment, notifying management of any needs.
  • Provide one-on-one engagement with residents who may not wish to participate in group activities.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Genuine passion for working with seniors and enhancing their quality of life.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Creativity and enthusiasm for planning and leading engaging activities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Compassionate, patient, and empathetic demeanor.
  • Basic computer literacy for scheduling and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous volunteer or paid experience in a senior care setting, community center, or similar environment.
  • Experience in event planning or group facilitation.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Some college coursework related to recreation therapy, social work, or a related field.
