Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Hospital Food Tray Deliverer to join our compassionate team. In this active role, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of meal trays to patients in various hospital wards. This position is crucial for patient well-being, directly contributing to their comfort and recovery by providing nutritious and well-presented meals. You will interact directly with patients, offering a friendly and supportive presence during meal times. This is an active role requiring frequent walking, standing, and light lifting.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport meal trays from the kitchen to patient rooms across multiple hospital wards.
- Verify patient identity and dietary restrictions before delivering trays to ensure accuracy and patient safety.
- Assist patients with opening containers or arranging food items on their trays as needed, providing a helpful and empathetic service.
- Collect used meal trays from patient rooms promptly after meals, preparing them for return to the dish room.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to all hospital sanitation and hygiene protocols.
- Communicate effectively and courteously with patients, nurses, and other hospital staff.
- Report any patient feedback regarding meals or dietary concerns to the appropriate nursing or dietary staff.
- Operate and maintain food delivery carts and equipment safely and efficiently.
Required Skills
- Ability to read, write, and understand English to follow instructions and communicate effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for positive patient and staff interactions.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, push, and pull carts for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds comfortably.
- Attention to detail for accuracy in tray delivery and dietary compliance.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a food service or customer service role, particularly within a healthcare setting.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices.
