Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Machinery Maintenance Supervisor to lead our maintenance team in Nanaimo, BC. This role is open to international candidates requiring sponsorship, demonstrating our commitment to attracting top global talent. You will be responsible for overseeing the preventive and corrective maintenance of our diverse range of heavy machinery and industrial equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of mechanical and hydraulic systems, and a commitment to safety and efficiency. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of maintenance technicians and millwrights.
  • Plan, schedule, and execute preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
  • Diagnose complex mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on heavy industrial machinery.
  • Oversee corrective maintenance and repair work, ensuring high-quality and timely completion.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and procurement for maintenance operations.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with production management to optimize equipment performance and availability.
  • Train new team members and provide ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance records and generate reports on equipment performance and costs.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for maintenance processes and equipment reliability.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial machinery maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with heavy industrial equipment.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Solid understanding of safety regulations and best practices in an industrial setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Journeyperson Millwright or Heavy Duty Mechanic certification.
  • Experience in the forestry, mining, or heavy manufacturing industries.
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Experience with welding and fabrication.
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
