Job Description
We are seeking experienced and dedicated Hot Shot Truckers to join our rapidly expanding team in Sandy, UT. This high-demand role offers consistent work, competitive weekly payouts, and the opportunity to be an integral part of our dynamic logistics operations. You will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting time-sensitive freight using a commercial truck and trailer (typically a 3/4-ton or 1-ton truck with a flatbed or gooseneck trailer). Key Responsibilities
- Operate a commercial vehicle (typically 3/4-ton or 1-ton truck) with various trailer types (flatbed, gooseneck, etc.) to transport freight.
- Safely and efficiently load and unload cargo, ensuring proper securing and weight distribution.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and trailers.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, delivery receipts, and other necessary documentation.
- Adhere to all DOT regulations, traffic laws, and company safety policies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
- Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues and perform basic vehicle maintenance as needed.
- Manage time effectively to meet strict delivery schedules.
- Represent XPO Logistics professionally at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A or Class B CDL (if required for vehicle/weight combination, otherwise a standard driver's license with appropriate endorsements).
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience, preferably with hot shot or similar expedited freight.
- Clean driving record (MVR).
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safety protocols.
- Proficient in cargo securement techniques.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Physical ability to load, unload, and secure freight as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- Familiarity with various types of freight and hauling requirements.
- Experience with cross-docking procedures.
- Mechanical aptitude for minor vehicle repairs.
