Job Description
Hub Group is seeking dedicated and experienced Intermodal Truck Drivers for local port work based out of our Katy, TX operations. This role offers consistent local routes, ensuring you are home every night to enjoy time with family and friends. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of intermodal containers between the port, rail yards, and customer facilities within the local Houston and surrounding areas. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class A commercial motor vehicle (CMV) to transport intermodal containers.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on tractor and trailer, reporting any defects or issues.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery and pick-up of freight to/from port, rail, and customer locations.
- Adhere strictly to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, federal, state, and local laws, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate electronic logs (ELD) and complete all necessary paperwork.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
- Properly secure loads and ensure container integrity.
- Maneuver equipment safely in various conditions including heavy traffic and tight spaces.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL A).
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable Class A CDL driving experience.
- Clean driving record (MVR) with no serious violations.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment DOT physical and drug screen.
- Thorough knowledge of DOT regulations regarding hours of service, vehicle inspections, and safety.
- Proficiency in operating Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs).
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in intermodal drayage operations.
- Current Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC card) or ability to obtain one promptly.
- Hazmat endorsement on CDL.
- Experience with port operations in the Houston area (e.g., Port of Houston, Bayport, Barbour's Cut).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
