Job Description
NextEra Energy is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Natural Gas Analyst with a strong focus on Business Research to join our team. This role is crucial for supporting our natural gas business operations through in-depth market analysis, trend identification, and strategic insights. The successful candidate will contribute to the ongoing success of our natural gas portfolio by helping to evaluate opportunities, assess risks, and optimize performance within a dynamic energy landscape. This position is ideal for a recent graduate or an individual with foundational experience eager to launch their career in the energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive research on natural gas markets, including supply and demand fundamentals, pricing trends, regulatory changes, and geopolitical impacts.
- Gather, analyze, and interpret large datasets related to natural gas production, consumption, storage, and transportation.
- Develop and maintain analytical models to forecast market behavior and assess potential impacts on company operations.
- Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and summaries of research findings for internal stakeholders, including management and trading teams.
- Monitor competitive landscapes and emerging technologies within the natural gas sector.
- Assist in the evaluation of new business opportunities, including infrastructure projects, pipeline expansions, and asset acquisitions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including trading, risk management, and strategic planning, to support various business initiatives.
- Stay informed about industry best practices and contribute to continuous improvement of research methodologies.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and modeling.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
- Demonstrated research capabilities and a keen eye for detail.

- Foundational understanding of economic principles and market dynamics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related field.

- Familiarity with natural gas market data sources (e.g., EIA, Platts, Argus).
- Knowledge of the North American natural gas infrastructure and regulatory environment.
- Prior internship or entry-level experience in the energy sector or a research-intensive role.
