Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Laboratory Automation Chemist with a strong focus on robotics and technology to join our innovative team in Orlando, Florida. This pivotal role involves designing, implementing, and optimizing automated laboratory systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and throughput of our diagnostic assays. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with laboratory robotics, instrument integration, and a deep understanding of analytical chemistry principles. You will be instrumental in driving technological advancements within our R&D and manufacturing processes, ensuring our solutions remain at the forefront of medical diagnostics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement automated liquid handling and analytical platforms for high-throughput screening and diagnostic assays.
  • Program and maintain laboratory robotic systems, including liquid handlers, plate readers, and sample processors.
  • Optimize existing automation protocols to improve efficiency, reduce assay variability, and lower operational costs.
  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of automated laboratory equipment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, Engineering, Manufacturing) to integrate new technologies and processes.
  • Conduct data analysis, interpret results, and prepare detailed reports on automation performance and assay validation.
  • Develop and execute validation plans for new automated methods and instrumentation.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., CLIA, FDA, ISO) and internal quality control procedures.
  • Stay abreast of new technologies and trends in laboratory automation, robotics, and analytical chemistry.

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. or M.S. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with laboratory automation and robotics (e.g., Tecan, Hamilton, Agilent, PerkinElmer).
  • Proficiency in programming automated liquid handlers and analytical instruments.
  • Strong understanding of analytical chemistry principles and assay development.
  • Experience with data analysis software and statistical process control.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex automated systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a regulated environment (e.g., CLIA, FDA, ISO 13485).
  • Familiarity with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) integration.
  • Basic scripting or programming skills (e.g., Python, R, C#) for instrument control or data processing.
  • Prior experience in medical device or in vitro diagnostics (IVD) industry.
  • Knowledge of microfluidics and advanced detection technologies.
