Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and physically capable Lighting Technician’s Mate to join our production team in Beaumont, Texas. This is a demanding role involving significant climbing and rigging work in various live event and venue settings. As a Lighting Technician’s Mate, you will work closely with senior lighting technicians to install, maintain, and dismantle complex lighting systems. Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior Lighting Technicians with the installation, focusing, and maintenance of lighting fixtures and related equipment.
- Perform climbing and aerial work using appropriate safety gear and techniques to access lighting positions.
- Rig and de-rig lighting systems, cables, and other production elements safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload equipment, ensuring proper handling and transportation.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including inventory and storage of lighting equipment.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, industry standards, and company policies, especially concerning working at height and rigging.
- Conduct pre-shift inspections of personal safety equipment and rigging hardware.
- Troubleshoot basic lighting issues under the guidance of a senior technician.
- Assist with power distribution setup and cable management.
- Attend and actively participate in all safety briefings and training sessions.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to work at heights and comfortable with climbing structures (e.g., trusses, ladders, catwalks).
- Strong understanding of basic rigging principles and knot tying.
- Exceptional physical fitness and stamina.
- Commitment to strict safety practices and procedures.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively in a team.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Reliable transportation to various work sites in and around Beaumont, TX.
- Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by event schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in event production, construction, industrial rigging, or a similar field requiring work at height.
- Certification in rigging, aerial work platform operation, or fall protection.
- Familiarity with various types of lighting equipment (e.g., intelligent lights, conventional fixtures, DMX).
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- High School Diploma or GED.
