Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Technologist to join our team in Sherbrooke, Quebec. As a Medical Technologist, you will perform a variety of complex diagnostic tests on patient samples, contributing significantly to accurate diagnoses and effective patient care. Key Responsibilities
- Perform complex laboratory tests on blood, tissue, and other body fluids, utilizing automated and manual methods.
- Analyze test results, interpret data, and ensure accuracy, validity, and timely reporting.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
- Adhere strictly to quality control and assurance protocols, safety regulations, and standard operating procedures.
- Prepare reagents, solutions, and controls according to established guidelines.
- Participate in proficiency testing programs and internal quality audits.
- Document all procedures, results, and quality control data accurately.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Stay updated with new laboratory techniques, technologies, and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent.
- Certification by the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) or eligibility for provincial licensure in Quebec.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Technologist in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Proficiency in performing a wide range of laboratory tests, including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, or blood bank.
- Strong understanding of laboratory quality control and assurance principles.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal (English and/or French).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and other healthcare software.
- Fluency in French.
- Previous experience working in a high-volume diagnostic laboratory.
- Specialized experience in one or more laboratory disciplines.
