Job Description
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and experienced Music Metadata Specialist with a strong focus on digital archives to join our remote team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the accurate creation, maintenance, and quality control of music metadata across our vast digital catalog. You will ensure compliance with industry standards and internal guidelines, playing a vital part in the discoverability, organization, and preservation of our extensive music archives. This position requires an unwavering commitment to precision and a deep understanding of music data structures.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, enrich, and maintain high-quality metadata for new and existing music releases across all digital platforms.
- Perform rigorous quality assurance checks on metadata submissions to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
- Identify and resolve metadata discrepancies, errors, and inconsistencies proactively.
- Collaborate with content operations, legal, and licensing teams to ensure metadata compliance and rights management.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of metadata best practices, standards, and guidelines.
- Utilize Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems and other proprietary tools for metadata entry and management.
- Assist in the migration and archiving of legacy music data into new systems.
- Stay current with evolving industry metadata standards (e.g., DDEX, GRid, ISRC, ISWC).
- Provide insights and recommendations for improving metadata workflows and system functionality.
- Train and support internal teams on metadata principles and tool usage.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in music metadata management, digital archiving, or a related field.
- Demonstrable expertise in music metadata standards (e.g., DDEX, ISRC, ISWC) and best practices.
- Proficiency with Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems and content management tools.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software for data manipulation.
- Solid understanding of music industry terminology, genres, and artist information.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, remote environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Music Business, Information Management, or a related field.
- Experience with large-scale data migration projects.
- Familiarity with various audio formats and digital content types.
- Knowledge of SQL or other database query languages.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for data automation.
- Fluency in multiple languages.
