Job Description
Embark on a rewarding career path in healthcare with AdventHealth as an Outpatient Pharmacy Technician Trainee. This entry-level position is designed for individuals eager to learn and grow within a dynamic clinical outpatient pharmacy setting. Under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and experienced pharmacy technicians, you will receive comprehensive on-the-job training to develop the essential skills required to become a certified pharmacy technician. This role provides an excellent opportunity to understand pharmacy operations, patient care, and medication management in a real-world clinical environment, preparing you for a fulfilling career dedicated to patient well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with daily outpatient pharmacy operations.
- Learn to accurately receive, stock, and organize pharmacy inventory.
- Develop skills in preparing and dispensing medications under pharmacist supervision.
- Participate in patient education efforts, assisting with medication queries and instructions.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to all safety and sanitation protocols.
- Process prescriptions and patient information efficiently and accurately.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local pharmacy laws and AdventHealth policies and procedures.
- Actively engage in training programs and educational modules to enhance pharmacy knowledge and skills.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare professionals.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient care and teamwork.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous customer service experience.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
- Enrollment in or completion of a pharmacy technician training program (not required but a plus).
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish) is a plus.
