Job Description
Join Memorial Hermann Health System as a Patient Transport Aide and play a crucial role in ensuring our patients receive timely and safe transfers within our facilities. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals passionate about healthcare and helping others. We provide comprehensive training, so no prior experience is required. You will be responsible for the non-emergency transport of patients, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process. This role is vital for efficient hospital operations and positive patient experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport patients via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed to and from various hospital departments (e.g., admissions, discharge, diagnostic areas, operating rooms) as directed.
- Assist patients with transfers to and from transport equipment, ensuring proper body mechanics and patient safety.
- Provide compassionate and respectful patient interaction, addressing any immediate needs or concerns during transport.
- Ensure all transport equipment is clean, functional, and properly maintained.
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff, other medical personnel, and patients regarding transport schedules and patient status.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, safety protocols, and infection control standards.
- Document transport activities as required.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Physical ability to push, pull, lift, and maneuver patients and equipment.
- Strong commitment to patient safety and well-being.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Basic computer literacy for documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPR certification (will provide training if not certified).
- Previous experience in a customer service role.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
