Job Description
Are you looking for an exciting entry-level opportunity to start a career in healthcare? CVS Health is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Pharmacy Tech Trainees. This is an excellent chance to learn the foundational skills required to become a certified Pharmacy Technician, with hands-on experience in a fast-paced retail pharmacy environment, similar to roles at Rite Aid or Walgreens. No prior experience is required – we provide comprehensive training and support to help you succeed. You will work closely with pharmacists and experienced technicians, assisting with daily pharmacy operations, learning about prescription processing, customer service, and maintaining a safe and organized pharmacy setting. This role is perfect for individuals eager to learn, detail-oriented, and passionate about helping others.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete all assigned training modules and on-the-job training diligently.
- Assist pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with prescription intake, data entry, and processing under direct supervision.
- Learn to accurately count, pour, measure, and mix medications, and label prescription bottles.
- Provide excellent customer service, answering patient questions and directing inquiries to the pharmacist when necessary.
- Assist with maintaining pharmacy inventory, including stocking shelves and organizing medications.
- Ensure the pharmacy is clean, organized, and compliant with all safety and regulatory guidelines.
- Process patient transactions at the point of sale.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, as well as state and federal pharmacy laws.
- Prepare for and pursue Pharmacy Technician certification upon completion of training requirements.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Strong desire to learn and develop a career in pharmacy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 pounds.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy (HIPAA).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a customer service role.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology.
- Bilingual skills (especially Spanish) are a plus.
